SPOOKS / SNACKS / SUGGESTIONS
This week, it's Halloween!
/Spooks/
HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYONE!!!
Hi! I’m back!
After a long break, I’m finally gracing your inboxes (and/or your Substack screens… whatever) with some spooky-scary stuff.
I’m a fall lover,
a believer in all things cozy and comfy (i.e., I love a sweater).
I love a red leaf
and red nail polish on short nails.
I love a scary movie
and I’m thrilled that this season embraces them.
I love pepper-heavy chai lattes
and the smell of rain on woodchips.
It’s all lovely and lovable!
On that note…
/Snacks/
I’ve made so many autumnal treats.
Earlier in the season, I ventured to Battleview Apple Orchard with Olivia and Dalton.
It was a fantastic way for fall to greet us, gifting us apples aplenty and a bountiful “country store” that housed kosher dill pickles, fresh-baked treats, organic produce, and a hot-apple-cider-donut window.
Unfortunately, though,
a single apple cider donut wasn’t enough to satisfy my craving for warming, spiced treats
so, I made more.
Using the apples we picked at Battleview, I made some apple-zucchini mini muffins. They were chock-full of shredded apple and zucchini, walnuts, and chocolate chips. My sister Julia and her friend Ella were visiting home and definitely appreciated them.

The trick to perfectly-domed muffins is, of course, plenty of leavening agent…
but, also, adequate spacing in the tray!
Leave a spot in between your muffins. Your baking time may be a little bit longer, but you’ll yield much prettier, bouncier results!

I also made them some classic cinnamon rolls with cardamom cream cheese frosting for good measure!
If that wasn’t enough…
With Julia, I whipped up a pumpkin cake topped with cream cheese frosting and filled with caramelized toasted walnuts and pumpkin seeds.

Now, for the Halloween of it all!
I’ve made some spooky treats that I’d looooove to highlight on here today
(and maybe give you some last-minute inspiration).

Tori (Chef Boyardee pictured above) had an amazing Murder Mystery party, and I was lucky enough to provide some treaty-tricks.
I made super-simple dirt cups
with chocolate pudding, gummy worms, OREOS, and double chocolate Tate’s cookies.
Don’t they look so elegant pictured here next to the pretzel cigarettes????
For an upcoming party,
I made some pumpkin patch brownie bites (brownie, ganache, mellocreme pumpkin)
and some berry brains (crispy treats).

I’ll make sure to update you all in the next newsletter on how those turn out!!!
If you need more recommendations for this upcoming gloomy season, other than sweet treats, though… I have some.
On that note…
